Rich Girl Kidnapped; becomes radicalistic Patricia Hearst was a normal student at the University of California in the early 1970’s, until it happened. Patricia, also known as Patty, was kidnapped by a group of violent radicals called the Symbionese Libreation Army (SLA) (Orth). Her captivity was quite miserable, it was stated that she was blindfolded, locked in a closet, sexually and physically abused, and then brainwashed (Patty Hearst). Patty was targeted due to her father’s high level of popularity. Her father, Randolph Apperson Hearst was a very wealthy man who was also the chairman of the Hearst Corporation. The second demand was the Patty’s father donate food to those who were less privileged than he (Orth). Randolph complied, and Patty was released from captivity (Patty Hearst). During her captivity, she was brainwashed to their way of life, and then decided that she would return and voluntarily join the SLA. She then committed numerous crimes and became widely known at the top of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) most wanted list (Bancroft). Upon her arrest for the various crimes committed, she served only part of her sentencing, and was later commuted by President Carter in 1979 (Orth). The case with Patty Hearst was a case of psychological warfare, during her captivity she was abused and coerced to their way of life, and upon her release she had already been exposed to too much of the lifestyle,
