In Richard Rodriguez’s article, “Blaxicans and Other Reinvented Americans”, he states using race as a basis for identifying Americans is not valid, culture should be what defines a person. For example in the essay Rodriguez states, “I am Chinese and that is because I live in a Chinese city” (91). This indicates that just because he is categorized as Hispanic it does not define who he really is, since he is saying that since he grew up in a Chinese culture and he knows more about Chinese cultures than he knows about his own family culture. Rodriguez defines himself Chinese also because he grew up the Chinese way and not the Hispanic way, but deep down Rodriguez knows his race is actually Hispanic but he rather define himself as Chinese because
In the essay “Blaxicans and other reinvented Americans” author Richard Rodriguez demonstrates how skin color should not define you, but instead, your cultural roots should define you. For example, Rodriguez states “in the Latin American, one sees every race of the world. One sees white Hispanics, one sees black Hispanics, One sees brown Hispanics who are Indians, many of whom do not speak Spanish”(line 94-96). This reveals that the government puts the people in a category without their consent. For example, people from Mexico are Hispanic also people from El Salvador are considered Hispanics, but they are two completely different cultures and traditions.
Racial profiling is one of the bigger threats to the human society. It has led to numerous acts of violence. In recent times racial profiling led to the arrests of innocent individuals amongst other things. Black people and Hispanics have always been victims to this type of harassment by law enforcement officials. When suspects are detained based off of suspicious behavior, rather than race, police officers catch more suspects.
Written Task 2 Racial profiling as defined by the National Institute of Justice is “a practice that targets people for suspicion of crime based on their race, ethnicity, religion or national origin” (National Institute of Justice). There are two different kinds of racial profiling according to the primary text. There is what can be called "Hard" profiling, that sees race as the only factor in assessing criminal suspiciousness.
This is an assumption that is proven without evidence. For Risse and Zeckhauser, racial profiling is not a form of racism, nor its resulting harms. The harms are a symptom of expressions that occur in society. Instead, the consequences of profiling are viewed as innocent.
Latino Racial Profiling As coming from a Hispanic heritage, I’ve experienced being called “A Mexican who crossed the border”. America is the land of opportunities and freedom. Freedom that should be shared by all, not just whites, “Latinos are affected the same way that African-Americans are” (Alba-Panama)”. Latino racial profiling is bad because it’s illegal and not all Latinos cause harm.
Racial Profiling can be useful sometimes and sometimes it can hurt other people’s feelings. It can be useful to the police because it can give the police an idea of who or what kind of person committed a crime. You can’t always rely on racial profiling to help find the criminal. There is no guarantee that you will find the criminal by using racial profiling. It can hurt other people because you are judging the person by their looks and actions.
I have had friends and family attacked and unfairly searched because officers assumed they had contraband or did something illegal. I had a friend named Gerome whose car was raided by police because they thought he might have drugs, my friend Kennedys brother was shot and killed in front of their house, and rather than doing a full investigation they said it was gang violence and closed the case. If this were a caucasian child who was shot in front of their house, in front of family, and the neighborhood, there would have been much further and thorough investigation. it is completely invalid to think or simply suggest that racial profiling does not exist

Racial profiling can have very extreme effects. The American Psychological Association found that the effects of racial profiling caused post-traumatic stress disorder and other psychological disorders, which can lead to drug abuse, depression, and even suicide. (Racial Profiling) The effects remind me of the effects of bullying. Some may not understand until it happens to them.
Racial profiling, using someone’s race to suspect they are ar committing an offensive crime. Modern society has come to where we will judge someone for individual protection . People have a habit of having a negative judgment for “foreigners” that come in . Many illegal immigrants have slipped in the U.S in the past few years. The perception one a group then leads to the deception of any individual in that group .
Losing My Culture and Language When people view my brown skin they assumed I can speak Spanish fluently. When Hispanic people talk to me, I try to answer back in Spanish. They stare at me with a confused face and tell me that I don’t talk well in Spanish and that I don’t have an accent. It hurts me on the inside because I feel that I don’t belong in the country that I was born in, which is Mexico.
Racial Profiling in America Racial profiling is defined as refers to the targeting of particular individuals by law enforcement authorities based not their behavior, but rather their personal characteristics ( The Leadership conference) . This is another mechanism for racial discrimination backed by the law. According to the The Leadership conference, racial discrimination is not solely on race, but based on religion, ethnicity and national origin.
Racial profiling occurs at higher rates for African Americans and Hispanics. This issue is very significant to me as almost all of my closest friends are African American or Hispanic. Every time I hear on the news that an African American or Hispanic man was shot or brutalized by a
