1) Three elements that are of great importance to a successful screenplay are sex, patriotism, and violence. These three elements are what brings in the audience to the movies. Sex is an element which sells very well and has a huge audience already. For instance, the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy is surrounded by sex and captivates a huge audience to come in the theatre. Patriotism is also a great element because the audience is already rooting for somebody in the film. Patriotism also drives the the plot of the screenplay/film. Violence is also of great importance to a screenplay because it says a lot about the film and the characters. Violence also keeps the audience engaged in the screenplay or film. A film that has any or all of these elements will be a successful screenplay because there is automatically an audience, the plot can be progressed, and keeps the audience engaged. …show more content…

An example from a film we have read in class is in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid when the Superposse present themselves while Butch and his group are robbing the train. The Superposse begins to chase Butch and Sundance, which causes them to run away. The rising action is the events that build up to the climax that happens after the inciting incident. An example of rising action in the film Slumdog Millionaire would be when Salim repeatedly betrays his brother Jamal. The climax is the highest point of tension in the film. For instance in Slumdog Millionaire the climax is when Jamal meets with the girl in the train station after he answers his last question of the game show.
