William Clark, The Exploration That Changed the World Ty Brown Riceville Community School I am talking about William Clark, and how we changed exploration. He gained a better knowledge of the United states. It will talk about everything he went through and everything he seen on his exploration. When Lewis and clark started their exploration conditions were terrible because they were always outside and were having to do everything on their own. Before Lewis and clark there were plans to explore the west, there would of been a first explorer named Michaax but they found out he was a secret agent for the French.
Once again, according to Discovering Lewis and Clark, they state [and connect with my last paragraph point] that another reason why the group isn’t that well known in Native history is because the “Native Americans were inundated with move pressing matters than memorializing the explorers.” Later on they go on to explain themselves, talking about how Lewis and Clark’s expedition caused Americans to believe that they suddenly knew everything about the land, and start extending their territory and their settlements into Native’s land, bringing epidemics such as smallpox, which devastated the Native Americans, and taking them from their rightful lands and placing the Natives to reservations. The American Revolution marked the history of many heroic events that immaculately stand as true inspirations for the generations to come in the United States. Even today, the gallantry of a few soldiers that won independence for the country is not only kept in the hearts of the people but run in the American blood to demonstrate acts of valor at times of war and hardships. One such story recorded in the history dates back to 1776, about a sixteen-year old juvenile, Joseph Plumb Martin, joined the Rebel Infantry and recorded his tribulations about forty-seven years in a memoir titled as “A Narrative of a Revolutionary Soldier”. The book mainly focuses on the sufferings through the tough situation he went through.
His work, The Tycoons: How Andrew Carnegie, John D. Rockefeller, Jay Gould, and J. P. Morgan Invented the American Supereconomy, allows readers to see a more picture perfect outlook on what the lives of these men entitled. Morris’s book was published in 2005, which allows readers to get a perspective from a long period of time and closer to reality rather than other historians writing on this era. The last author that allows readers to view the Robber Barons in a different manor is James Nuechterlein in his journal article Gifts of the “Robber Barons.” Nuechterlein wrote this article in 2007 allowing readers to view the men through historical resources that he uncovered. His stance shows a more balanced approach to the Robber Barons rather than saying one or the other was a better man than the other.
William Clark was also a well-rounded man. Still under the age of twenty, “…William Clark was swept up into the American Indian conflicts of the Ohio frontier.” (Buckley). He joined the Ohio militia in 1789, before joining the regular Army itself. Eventually, he was commissioned as a lieutenant of infantry and was a huge contributor to the development of forts along the Ohio River.

The book chosen for this review is Many Masks: The Life of Frank Lloyd Wright by Brendan Gill. This book is an excellent writing on the beginning, middle and end of Frank Lloyd Wright’s life and it gives us a full look at who the man, claimed to be the greatest American Architect of the twentieth century, truly was. The most interesting part about Brendan Gill’s writings is that he knew Frank Lloyd Wright personally. This type of audience would be interested in learning about the causes that contributed to the disappearance of work within the inner-city neighborhoods. A similar book that could be compared to this particular book would be “American Apartheid: Segregation and the Making of the Underclass”. It discusses the ghetto, and how it was created, but it also discusses the problems within the ghetto, and the problems that those particular problems created. This book can also be used as a good source of research. If this book was to be recommended to anyone it would be someone who is studying unemployment, and the causes of unemployment.
