From the powerful lyrics to their unique music, they've helped pave the way to what music is today. So what would happen if we found out that one of the Fab Four had secretly died during their prime time? For 45 years, it has been believed by many Beatle fans (Beatlemaniacs) that Paul McCartney secretly died back in the mid-sixties. The rumor started back in 1969 when a few U.S. college students at Drake University posted an article in the Times-Delphic, the university's newspaper, about how "Paul Is Dead." Allegedly there is a secret phone number that can be found holding the album cover up to a mirror. The phone number, when dialed, is reported to give a clue when dialed. Additionally, on the cover Paul is wearing a walrus suit. Many in England believe this symbolizes death. The lyrics in the song “I Am the Walrus,” state “Stupid bloody Tuesday,” meaning the last time Paul was seen alive was on a Tuesday. In addition, it states, “I am the eggman,” which believers translate to refer to Humpty Dumpty who fell and cracked open his head. While there was no car accident in November 1966, McCartney's car did crash in January of 1967. The driver wasn't McCartney, but a man, Mohammed Hadjij, who was using it to transport some drugs to a party in Sussex that McCartney was at during the time of the crash. Also, in 1965, Paul was involved in a moped crash, which caused a chipped tooth and a scar above his lip, which supposedly led him to grow a mustache to cover it up. Some believe that after Paul died in the 1966 car crash, his replacement went to Africa to get cosmetic surgery to help with the cover up. When this rumour was brought to the other Beatles' attention, they denied it, saying that it was a "load of rubbish" and that "Paul is very much still with us." In November 1969, Paul claimed that the rumor started because he "hadn't been much in the press lately," and continues to confirm that he is very much alive.
