Did you see the lanterns in the church belfry was there one or two? There are, many similarities and differences between the historical account of Paul Revere’s ride and the fictional portrayal, The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere. In both texts, the lanterns were both hung in a church. In the historical account, Revere got rowed across the river. In the fictional portrayal he rowed himself across the river.
Imagine if you were Paul Revere's friend and had to climbing up a church tower and you had scared a flock of pigeons you got scared. Would you want to look dawn off the peak of the roof? The two texts i read were Paul Revere’s Ride and The Other Riders. The authors of the two texts were Henry Longfellow and PBS. Though there were many similarities between the two texts, such as both texts involve the same problem of the British coming to attack, similar settings, and Paul Revere riding to Lexington, there were also many differences.
In both of these texts, including the poem of Paul Revere by Longfellow and the letter by Belknap based on Paul Revere are very different from each other, for one I know that the poem about Paul Revere is indeed a tale and the letter is surely the truth. We can differentiate these two stories and find out what differences and similarities are there by using context clues and exemplars. In the poem by Longfellow, explains not as many details as the letter, for one in the poem, it is said that he went through Charleston first, then many other villages to warn the people of the town that the British were coming by sea. On the night of Paul Revere, Longfellow's poem states that Paul Revere and his friend planned out that Paul Revere would stand on the opposite side of Charleston river prepared with his horse to tell everybody that the British were coming but he would not go until his friend would put letters on the church wall “ 1 later if by land and 2 lanterns if by sea”
In Paul Revere’s Ride by Mr. David Hackett Fischer in 1994 discusses one of the very important events of American history that is always stays in the darkness of misunderstandings. In this book Fischer demonstrates not only the famous ride of Paul Revere but also successfully describes the action and the adventure packed night of April 18, 1775. In the midway of the book Fischer reveals how the alarm passed by Revere and the circle was completed back to Boston. This book is adventurous, a competition between two men, Revere and chief commander of the British forces, and General Thomas Gage whose characteristics is well explore and represents him as an historical individual. Fischer explores in this book how this single event is influenced by these two men.
Paul Revere was not a unique here before the battle of Lexington . Paul Revere was a colonist that had a mission to tell the other colonists that the british were coming to Middlesex Village . This took place on April 18, 75 .
When you hear Paul Revere, images of a secret midnight ride may come to mind, but in reality, Revere's famous April 18th ride did not gain him immediate fame. It was only when Henry Wadsworth Longfellow published his poem "Paul Revere's Ride" that he became the colonial hero we know today. Paul Revere was born on January 1st, 1735 to Apollos Rivoire, a silversmith. Following his father's death, Revere, aged nineteen, began work in his father's trade and assumed responsibility for the shop.

The Famous Ride of Paul Revere Paul Revere is known for his famous ride through Charlestown, Virginia on April eighteenth, 1775 at midnight. There are many stories that have been published about this famous ride, but many are inaccurate. “Paul Revere’s Ride,” by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow is not a credible source of information because Revere does not do the same things within these two pieces of literature, the British’s actions are not the same in the poem and the letter, and Revere is not alone on this famous night. Longfellow does not match his poem up with the true actions of Paul Revere.
The romanticism was the response to the Industrial Age. That movement began in America from 1820 ’s to 1870’s. Washington Irving was part of that movement which began in America after Revolutionary War. They tried to separate them from the rest of the world and create a country as a nation. They used their chance of individuality and creativity, and they addressed economic social and many other concerns by their writings.

By defeating Britain, a vast feeling of nationalism was formed throughout the population of America and thus motivated many writers to express their emotions of American nationalism, creating literature that tried to distinct itself from European traditions, instead shaped by “[…] radical individualism and a total commitment to social reform, religious freethinking and the most conventional pieties, artistic experiment and self-conscious imitation. “ (Habich 3)
Throughout this time period American literature shifts from American foundation into American development. Following the Revolutionary War, America saw a huge population increase; migration westward; and many technological advances. These events thus initiate the Romantic Era. Within this era society held the values of individual importance; close association with nature; and humanism. In the romanticism poem The Tide Rises, The Tide Falls the reader can obtain a glimpse of these nature focused beliefs.
