“Ep.6 Paula Scher: Graphic Design.” Abstract: The Art of Design (2017) The documentary series of Netflix that talk about abstract and design. This is not a movie that using someone to play the role of a real person but this is the documentary that real person tells a story of herself. The documentary tells everything about Scher. Paula is one of the famous graphic designers. She is on the top of her career. She is an influential person in the world. Her creative is model and growing up as same as the city and time. She has been controlling all the typography that represents the identity of the brand and public in New York and the world. According to Designboom interview the website that focuses on the designer, she does not well at drawing but she learned to illustrate with type. She was an illustration major at Tyler school of art. She found herself since she was a teenager that she likes art design. By the time after graduated, she got a job at CBS records. Scher created about 150 record covers for the artists in a year. Some artist cared about their record cover but some of them did not care but Scher does care. It was her responsibility to design and make everyone interest in the albums. In her first, she learns to work in every style and became obsessed with period typography. A lot of the work was later referred to as ‘postmodernism’, which is one kind of ism that people prefer.
