Film Review: Pay It Forward Directed By Mimi Leder

After watching the movie Pay it Forward directed by Mimi Leder, I begin to think of how I could use the same concept to make a revolution. I figured that if I used the talent and ability that I have to help someone, they could pay it forward by helping someone else. I begin tutoring elementary and middle school kids in the 10th grade and I wanted my involvement as a tutor to benefit someone who needs it. So when I got accepted for a mentor ship at one of the most prestigious programs named “Practice Makes Perfect” I was more than pleased. Mentoring and tutoring male’s grade 8th-9th who was in danger of falling behind a grade-level was obviously going to be a challenge. One of the main characters named Trevor Mckenney in the movie Pay It Forward stated “I think some people are too scared, or something. I guess it's hard for people who are so used to things the way they are - even if they're bad - to change. Cause they kind of give up. And when they do, everybody kind of loses”. So when the kids seemed to give up I encourage them to continue and apply themselves to what’s important in life. Furthermore as the weeks went on many hands were being raised, questions were getting answered and asked. Their study, reading and test taking skills improved because they trusted me as a mentor to lead them to where they needed to go. I talked to them about college and how important education was. This showed to me that nothing is forever and we as people can change the world. This also encouraged me even more to further my education because this mentor ship was proof that it's more fixing to be done. Getting the gratification to watch these young men evolve and collect their diplomas became a huge substantial part of my life. I matured with the boys and got a new outlook at life, filling in a void that I needed before taking my next step with
