First, on December 7, 1941 one the of the nation’s largest naval bases stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii called Pearl Harbor was attacked by surprise by the Japanese in hope of eliminating a large amount of our fleets so Japan could expand. The Japanese destroyed almost 20 American naval vessels, including eight huge battleships, and more than 300 airplanes.

Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese on December 7th, 1941 at approximately 7:55 am. 361 Japanese planes attacked the American naval base in Hawaii. During this time, people around the world were witnessing the impacts of WWII. Japan had signed a pact to be allied with Germany and Italy.

Many people believe that this attack is just a military action. The premise hiding in the back is Japan's constant aggression and their desire for resources, and the economic sanctions from America. These factors interacted and contributed to the escalating tensions between Japan and the United States, ultimately leading to the US declaration of war against Japan while the former was involved in the world war.
In the following years, Japan took over China in 1937. In response, President Roosevelt moved the US Pacific fleet from California to Pearl Harbor. Pearl Harbor is in Hawaii. It became the US Navy base and airfield.
Although the attack was intended to calm down the Pacific Fleet, it gave the Americans the feeling that they wanted to go to war with them. In response to the attack, the U.S. came back with antiaircraft guns, ships, and submarines. The war took place for two hours. At the end of the war, Japan ended up losing 29 planes and 64 men. On the other hand, the United States lost 188 planes, 21 ships, 2,390 servicemen.
U.S. had broken the Japanese diplomatic code. A warning had been sent from Washington but it was too late. Japanese planes were spotted by radar before the attack. During the battle, 6 aircrafts carried and struck Pearl Harbor. Two waves of terror lasting two hours.
They also damaged and may have sank three cruizers, three destroyers, an anti aircraft training ship and one minelayer. 188 U.S. aircraft were destroyed. 2,403 Americans were killed and 1,178 others were wounded. The Japanese only lost 29 aircraft and five midget submarines, 64 service man killed and one japanese sailor was captured Kazuo Sakamaki.
Pearl Harbor signified the start of the war for America. On December 7th, 1941 just before 8 a.m. the Japanese did a surprise attack and drop a devastating bomb on one of our naval bases in Hawaii. During this attack the Japanese managed to destroy twenty American naval vessels, eight battle ships, and more than three hundred aircrafts. The attack was done by Japanese kamikaze fighter pilots trying to destroy the Pacific fleet so America would not be able to fight back while Japan’s armed forces spread across the South Pacific. The day after the assault president FDR went to congress and declared war on Japan with just one dissenting vote.
