My enthusiasm for this field is rooted in supporting and caring for others. When people asked me “what do you want to be when you grow up?” My answer was ever changing. The one constant was my passion for helping children. While attending undergrad at Stephen F. Austin State University, this field fell into my lap.

The journal relates to several Pediatric Clinical Objectives. I will soon hold a Bachelor degree in Communication Disorders and my studies have taught me how to communicate with individuals from all backgrounds, professions, and social classes. It taught me sympathy and understanding of human interaction. My long term goal is to work with school aged children and young adults as a speech-language pathologist. I have experience in interacting favorably and effectively with children of a wide range and enjoy doing so. I belong in an educational environment and would like to continue on to the school system and contribute to the success of school aged children and young adults.
Parents and family members with a child of any age would also benefit from the information delivered in this speech although older children may not receive such impactful results. Significance: This speech is relevant to my audience because the impact of such a significant diagnosis is a life changing and emotional event for families and the need for direction and guidance at such a critical time in their child’s life is essential. My audience should understand that providing their child with early intervention therapy will impact their child’s life indefinitely.
These are acquired skills I can now utilize them to become a successful Social Worker. I’m currently working for Butterfly Effects which serves children who have been diagnosed with Autism and other learning disabilities. Being able to interact with children has made me more aware that I want to work with children as a social worker. Children are in our community are growing, learning, and thriving every day.
