Pediatric Quest From my interviews so far I have learned and had my main questions answered like salary amount, work hours, work days, and things that will help me in school to prepare for this career. What I want to know now is if there are any negative things about being a pediatrician and how pay differs in other states or countries. I have found my sources through the internet and the library. What makes these sources credible are their authority, their author’s credentials, and if their author has valid contact information. This is where I found the general information on pediatricians. I was glad to see that their job outlook in 2012 through 2022 is 18%, faster than average. Gives me a little bit of hope that I will have a job in that field by the time I have all the needed requirements. I also searched, “What is a pediatrician?” which led me to the webmd website and gave me this answer, “Your pediatrician will see your child many times from birth to age 2 and annually from age 2 to age 5 for "well-child visits." After age 5, your pediatrician will likely continue to see your child every year for annual checkups. Your pediatrician is also the first person to call whenever your child is sick.” Doing this research has given me more insight into this career and makes me think if its really a career I would like to pursue. I am gaining a lot of knowledge, I found out that salary for pediatricians is different for every state in California. Sometimes it is even a forty dollar difference in hourly pay! I found that piece of information to be the most memorable because it will help me make a decision in where I would want to work as a pediatrician if I want to make more …show more content…

Now that I think about it, I do not really wish to pursue a career in pediatrics. But it is too late to switch topics for this project. I think I would like to find something that would give a greater pay. It interested me at first because it seemed like an easy job to attain with high pay. And this is not the case. And honestly, I do not even like children enough to have this as a lifetime career. After all, this is what this project was supposed to help me with. Making a decision on a career. I think the next step in my journey would be to do a lot of research on other careers and compare them, because I do not really have much time left, if I want to take classes in high school for whatever I end up choosing to pursue. I am still glad to have carried out this research because if I had not, I would have gone into this field of pediatrics blindly and finding out I do not enjoy at
