The theme statement of the story “Choices” is “Don’t fully trust someone who you are uncomfortable with, especially if you haven’t known them for long.” Well, this is what I’ve learned from this short story. The factors that have contributed to this tragedy (a car accident where Peggy was found to have more injuries than Ken) are based on the facts that they’re not only uncomfortable with each other, but also haven’t know each other for long. She should’ve trusted herself, especially after having the suspicion that he was hiding one of his disabilities that could affect his driving skills, and her safety (which it did).
