A false dichotomy is a type of informal fallacy which something is falsely claimed to be an "either/or" situation when there is at least one additional option. The use of visual cues is an effective way to communicate a particular message to a desired audience. Both text and picture in a political cartoon, or a real life image, can be used to present commentary on a particular political situation. For instance, a political cartoon illustrates Ted Cruz on an island alone with a boat driving away with the wording “GOP Support,” to display the lack of support he gets from fellow Republicans. Furthermore, the article “Obnoxiousness is the New Charisma” written by Frank Bruni, presents an unflattering picture of Ted Cruz with his fist up and a blurred out mouth. Since both these images are anti-Cruz, they are targeted towards an audience who feels similarly towards him, whether conservative or liberal.

As one of the most influential entertainment producers, Disney dominates the global market for ages attracting the countless audience around the world. However, Disney’s most famous “‘princess’ fairy tale stories” (Barker, 2010, p. 492) are criticized for racism and sexism. In 2007, Disney confirmed production of the film, The Princess and the Frog, featuring the first African-American Disney princess, Tiana. For Disney this film was the response to the accusation of racism and sexism represented in its animation. Also, it was filled with African American parents’ anticipation and excitement who longed for a non-stereotypical black woman on the screen (Breaux, 2010, p. 399).
The author talks about how Indian mascots and logos perpetuate racism in schools. This relates to the Big Picture Question as those Indian logos and mascots put a stereotype on the people that go to that school. They may be called names that are specifically called to natives only. This all would go towards racism being implemented towards those kids and them being treated as different. I would answer the question the same way that the author did.
