Percy’s experiences align with the Hero’s Journey because of these three reasons. First, separation happens to Percy for a while. I know this because in the book it says that he has ADHD and dyslexia so that is what makes him separated from the rest of society. Then, the call to adventure happens. I know this because there is a danger that starts them on their journey and the danger is the monsters that come for them.
Percy Jackson’s experiences do align with the hero’s journey. First, his experiences align with the hero’s journey because he’s, so far, following all the steps in the hero’s journey. He follows all the steps because first he starts off in an ordinary world, which is the first step, then things start to turn supernatural and adventure is basically calling him. So, he goes to do what he needs to do even if he’s very confused, just like in the hero’s journey. Next, Percy, first lives in an ordinary world but then goes into a different world/place that he’s never been to before.
According to the article “A Teacher's Guide to The Lightning Thief” the three main traits of ADHD are inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsive. The first reason why Percy Jackson does not have ADHD is because Percy Jackson does not get distracted easily. He stayed concentrated when fighting the centaur. He also fought without getting distracted while fighting the evil
However, he is blessed to have these conditions. His ADHD and ADD help him stay hyperactive in wherever he is. This book was based on Greek Mythology, and there were many wars at that time. Percy is falsely accused for stealing a lightning bolt, and wants to prove that he didn't. Percy Jackson is persevere in many ways.
Furthermore, going back to the novel “Percy Jackson And The Olympians The Lightning Thief” in my previous essay for Percy jackson i mentioned how Percy jackson became full of himself after finding out he is the son of Poseidon, (me) saying this “In chapter one Percy jackson is all to himself and does not try to “cause” any trouble. As it states on page 5 “ ‘Mr Jackson,’ he said ‘did you have a comment?’ My face was totally red. I said ‘No sir’. In this part of the novel ( the beginning)
Another way I know this was that Percy had ADHD and Dyslexia. “This thing of dyslexia is getting worse. ”(Percy Jackson and the lightning thief, scene 4) also refers to Perseus by showing how Perseus didn’t fit in on his island. “ The king was trying to get rid of Perseus because he wanted to be able to drag
Percy is very strong emotionally and he always makes sure that his friends and family are safe. When Grover was captured and sent to Polyphemus, Percy knew that he had to go and save him as well as retrieve the golden fleece so he could save everyone at camp. Percy cares about his friends and he will be willing to do the right thing and save them even if it means he gets in trouble. Percy Jackson wasn't
He suffers from Dyslexia and ADHD and often questions if he was good enough or normal like other kids. Percy second guesses himself sometimes. Percy was always active and ready for a mission. He has lots of energy and
In Rick Riordan’s novel, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, a troubled adolescent does not really know what to think of his life as he has constantly been expelled from schools across New York. The protagonist in which the novel is named for appears to suffer from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and dyslexia which come off as disabilities in the real-world. Riordan’s casting of ADHD and dyslexia as markers for demi-god status created an atmosphere for the readers that possessing one or both of these qualities does not guarantee failure and that it is possible to succeed. Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, more commonly referred to as ADHD, is diagnosed before a child turns seven years old. Symptoms for this disorder include
Did Percy Jackson actually become diagnosed with ADHD? From things that Percy does, it is easy to tell he might have ADHD. Some characteristics of ADHD are intention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. In The Lighting Thief the are a lot of examples saying that the child might have ADHD. He tries to learn new things but it is difficult to him, he has a bad attitude, and he can not keep control of his anger to other people.
Percy Jackson had a tough life. Poseidon (His dad) left him when he was young, and he was alone with his mom. He was offered a quest from the leader of Camp Half Blood named Chiron. There was a prophecy that said he would go west to face the god who has turned, he would find what was stolen, and see it safely returned, he would be betrayed by the one who calls him a friend, and finally he would fail to save what matters to him the most in the end. Percy Jackson achieved all of these parts of the prophecy but they were not always good for him.
There was a time when he was very confused on what he was capable of doing. For example, in chapter 1 page 9 the text states, “I don’t remember touching her but the next thing I knew, Nancy was sitting on her butt in the fountain screaming,”Percy pushed me!” ” It seems that Percy’s powers responded to his actions as he somehow pushed Nancy Bobofit into the water. Another example is when Percy made made it to camp half blood (chapter 5, Riordan) , Percy was being spoon fed Ambrosia nectar which what percy said tastes like,”It was chocolate chip cookies.
Percy Jackson does have ADHD because he has inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. To begin with, Percy Jackson has a hard time trying to learn and focus because he has inattention. In the book The Lightning Thief they went to a museum and he was trying to learn about history but everybody kept distracting him so he could not learn. He was trying to learn about something and everyone
The main aspects of Darwin’s Natural selection is about living organisms with suitable and inheritable traits for the survival and reproduction of new species. Offsprings that inherit better traits have an improve the population. For example; a giraffe will a long neck because it eats from tall trees. It is because of the tall trees( environment) that the Giraffe eventually evolves long neck as a mechanism for survival. By leaving an impact on their physical and social environment, organisms may affect the evolution of their own descendants, quite apart from changing the conditions for themselves.
"Percy–" "No, no, no, no," He kept on repeating, still shaking his head repetitively. His throat suddenly felt dry, and with his best friend 's gaze trained on him, along with his father and teachers, he did the only thing that felt natural to him: he ran. Percy didn 't know how long he was running for, but he could guarantee that it was for a long time. See, since he lived on the streets before, and pick pocketed people there, he made sure to run as fast as he could to get away from them. To elaborate, this made his fitness level very high, which meant that he could run for a long period of time
