Archetypes in literature are often seen as courageous and selfless individuals. When no one else seems willing to go the distance or go that extra mile, they do. Aside from this, they are also seen as the underdog; when all odds are against them they persevere. A great example of this is seen in the “Percy Jackson & The Olympians: Lightning Thief” written by Rick Riordan. Percy, in the novel, is written as a troubled youth battling his own internal battles all while trying to find himself and coming to terms with the fact that he is different and will forever be different.
