“The Lightning Thief” is a current Greek mythology by Rick Riordan. Percy Jackson has the characteristics of a Greek hero because he is, after all, a demigod. He goes on an unknown journey after his mother who is captured, retrieve the master bolt and return the helmet back to Hades. As he goes on a journey to complete a heroic quest while on his way he faced a couple challenges along his way to save the world from a horrendous war.
