"The Birthmark" fixates a man's desire to remove his wife's imperfection so she may acquire perfection; Her imperfection through the hand-shaped birthmark shows natures "hand", man only have themselves to fight when it comes to nature's doings, and nature will always take what cannot be replaced. Nothing anyone in the world can and will do, even with the best intentions, can go against nature. Nature is at large here, knowing that only another force can truly cause a birthmark to resemble a hand upon Georgians check. Despite the fact, she is described as being beautiful to the point of angelic, almost perfect. However, this doesn't stop Aylmer from his attempts to remove the mark. History has always come to show us that you cannot fight nature without consequences in return. An example of this would be a mutation, and how today's science has come to try and cause this. Sheep have been testing subjects to this, and nature shows even though we can try and make clones of these beings, they only end up dying cause nature never intends for such things. This is shown in the story when Aylmer finally removes his wife's birthmark, however, nature itself takes away Georgina's life in return for his negligence. Perfection can also entitle itself within other subjects where nature also plays a major role. This is like religion and how everyone views their own as perfect, however, do to our own natures, man will always come to question and oppose others from their own viewpoints. In the story, Georgina is being opposed by her husband and she only allows him to proceed with his tests on her. Aylmer tries many different elixirs to try and remove Georgians mark, but only at the cost of her death. All this over the only imperfection she had for her husband's selfish desires to make her perfect. History has come to show this before when Hitlers Nazis tried to oppress the Jewish population and the world's super powers. This is shown when Hitler places all Jewish people in concentration camps, however, some of man's population fight this with their own views. Like how Aylmer opposes Georgiana's birthmark, some people find it charming and attractive. Also showing how man's fixation on certain things about their own may drive them to man vs
