In this book, “Perks of Being a Wallflower”, by Stephen Chbosky, The book is about a boy named Charlie and his high school experience. Throughout this book Charlie is introduced to many new things, experiences and ideas. An example of one of these things would be how Charlie makes friends with two upperclassmen after his friend commits suicide. With these two friends, Sam and Patty, Charlie tries many new things such as alcohol, and marijuana. Charlie also develops a mild addiction to cigarettes. I understand why many parents or teachers would not want children reading this book because it does glorify the use of certain drugs like marijuana and nicotine.
