Personal Response 2.9- The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky The book The Perks of Being a Wallflower written by Stephen Chbosky has many themes in relation to the young adult adolescence. The book is written from the perspective of a high school freshman named Charlie, throughout the book Charlie talks about the various obstacles he faces whether it is about something school or at home related. One way I can relate to this book is through the passage in the text when Charlie mentions that he and his friends were planning on doing a Secret Santa, which has been a tradition for them to do. I think it would be great to have written one of those songs. I bet if I wrote one of them, I would be very proud. I hope the people who wrote those songs are happy. I hope they feel it's enough. I really do because they've made me happy. And I'm only one person.” This text made me think about my personal experiences of how listening to songs can simply calm me down, as they remind me that I’m not alone in finding my way through life.
