When I read this true life story of about this little girl Margi. This book has helped me to see all the life struggles, good times, that Marji faced between the ages of nine to thirteen. The Islamic Revolution had such a crazy effect in the Middle East, especially in the county of Iran where Marji and her family live. And throughout this story she just tells this crazy story about what she goes through on this journey. With all the stuff that she go’s through it requires extreme strength, confidence, and bravery. And that’s why I think Persepolis should be in the literary cannon because of its subject matter with sharing real life experiences. It also deserves to be in the cannon for it’s authenticity. It is also something that most likely could be understand and or be explained. It also deserves to be in the cannon because it is written by a women and women of color And that’s why I think it should be in the cannon. The subject matter in this book might be serious it may not be something that everyone can understand. But this book has universal quality that a lot of people will understand and take to heart about the Islamic revolution. And it’s talking about real life experiences throughout the revolution. This is such a big deal for the cannon because it is made up of “ Rich Older European White Men “. So it would be amazing to see a Iranian Women to be in the cannon and break new ground and kind of create a modern cannon. And revive the cannon and I do not think they need to get rid of all the other books in the cannon. But just update it to things that people can understand and want to read because not all teenagers want to read Shakespeare. So I think adding this book would end a lot of controversy and make a lot
