In the second section of the book, “Unbroken”, the author talked a lot about the experiences of the crew that Louie was with when he joined the army. Louie ended up with Phil and several other men to form a crew with their plane, a B-24 model, which they named “Superman”. They were all great pals who went through thick and thin together, but they believed the chance of survival was slim. One day, they barely managed to get it back to home base on one mission when the enemy relentlessly attacked their plane. However, one crew member was beyond help and several more had injuries that rendered them unsuitable for battle, their plane was also unrepairable.
Perseverance is one of the most important things in the time of slaves in the Civil War. During this time it was illegal for slaves to read or write or know numbers. If a slave was found in the south teaching others to read and write, he or she would be severely punished. In the story NightJohn by Gary Paulsen, one of the main characters, NightJohn, perseveres against what is expected of a slave and teaches kids and other slaves how to read and how to write, despite what could happen if he was found out.
In her response to Amanda Ripley, she states that she agrees with her because of the ironocy that is involved between sports and academics. In sports students are expected to “show just how well they can when expectations are high and they put their minds to it,” however, the same expectations are expected for their academics and they can work just as hard for it, which reflects on their test scores. Students should be expected to work harder for their academics, because it is something that will guarantee their future financially. They could go into sports and do a couple of years for pro sports, but that never lasts long. Education is what separates the ignorant from the wise person, and in this case what is the point of going to school for long periods of time so that one ends up kicking around a ball ?
To even have a small chance at being successful, in the recognition sense, it takes effort into those practices and focus because if one is going to practice forever without making any progress along the way, it proves once again that Gladwell falsely accused and gave false hope to people who dreamed of being successful and thinking practice itself for so many hours will give them a slight amount of chance. Yes it is possible to be successful with a few amount of practice, but it happens rarely since those who practiced for a short time had an advantage physical wise and environment wise (household). This doesn't mean those with disadvantages have less of a chance because those even with the advantages can still fail. Having an advantage or not only means how much and how less you have to practice, but it doesn't mean it's the quicker way to reach success. For success to truly happen, luck can bring a big impact since it can have many different outcomes when a certain situation is going on.
The trait that he gets from this is determination to work since he learns he needs to work hard to get better at
Many individuals are able to succeed because they are willing to fight for what they want. Doing this they are shoulding perseverance. Perseverance in other words means to not give up. The novel “Call of the Wild” Buck shows perseverance by not giving up his leadership throughout the book when he got his new owners and new sled dog teammates. Even though he had to fight to keep his leadership, Buck never lost the leadership.
Heroes come in many shapes, sizes, and colors… They all have something in common, which is (Grit) passion, perseverance, and courage. The Little Rock Nine is a group of 9 African American students who showed Grit. Firstly, The Little Rock Nine showed perseverance despite the racial hostility depicted in the community. For instance, they were spat on, embarrassed on a daily basis, and continuously harassed with vulgar terms.
Not trying at something is worse than failure. I agree with this because you never know what you are capable of, and failure can help you get better. To start off, in the start of The Earth on Turtle’s Back written by an anonymous source, showed somethings that demonstrate determination. “I will bring up earth or die trying.” Said the muskrat (para 13).
Perseverance is one word to describe how I have accomplished and succeeded in every goal I have committed myself to. Having the opportunity to apply for the National Honors Society is one goal I have so far accomplished this year. This not only demonstrates my hard work in different areas, including academics and clubs, but also my passion for helping others and my community. I think my experience with leadership and volunteer work will not only help me flourish, but also help my peers to flourish outside and inside the Society. Leadership is one of the pillars that the National Honors Society is built upon.
To finish college, to learn to ride a bike, to raise a family, to finish a book...these all require one common attribute to complete. That attribute is perseverance. Perseverance is a word used to generalize the act of finishing a challenging goal, even when the circumstances are less than desirable. Great successors require perseverance every day, and it is a vital characteristic to accomplish any sort of standard. Throughout Call of The Wild and --------------------, we see many examples of the main characters perseverance, and both stories teach the reader what it means to achieve a goal.
Pain comes in different ways and in different scenarios for each person and even pets, but with perseverance we can get through these painful times in our life. In the book The Call of the Wild, Buck, the main character gets shipped from owner to owner, coming out of each owners care, not in the best state of health. Often times he returns beaten and starved, but with perseverance he keeps on running and eats back to health. Much like Buck, my mom persevered. While just starting her adulthood she had a major brain surgery, which caused a lot of severe pain.
As you continue that sport you are less active participant in your school classes and extracurricular activities so as you continue you will stop showing up then eventually will just fail the class. So what I am saying is that college athletes need to be forced to go to class and get that college degree before they make it pro. I feel like colleges should make the student be forced to set a class schedule and degree before they ever make it to the sports world. Know you can say well college does that but they say they do it
I think that everyone should try a sport once, I’m going to tell you why. If you never try a sport you never know if you will like it or not. For example, I would have never found out I liked soccer if I didn’t try it, and now I love soccer and want to play it all the time. Or maybe you don’t want to play a sport and that’s okay, but if you want to do something don’t hold yourself back. Even if you tried something and thought it is the worst sport ever, at least you tried it.
In order to fight poverty you must have perserverance. In these two stories the only way to survive poverty is to have perserverance in yourself, and the others affected by the terrible situation.
