There are many achievements that I have accomplished that relate to my field of study and future goals. They all show the unique individual that I am and even though I have many more to accomplish, I am proud of the ones that have contributed to shaping who I am.
Ever since I was five years old (15 years ago), I have been a part of the Mexican Folkloric
Dance Ballet of Alaska group to this day. Being part of this dance group has given me many opportunities to perform in many different places around the Anchorage community as well as helping me develop self-confidence. I would have never imagined the love for music and dance toward the cultural arts that have made me feel honored to represent my Mexican roots and traditions. Teaching dance has motivated me to keep teaching in other areas of my interest, like science and nutrition.
Another way I demonstrate my leadership skills and my persistence to the things I love and value is through Martial Arts. I have practiced Taekwondo for about eight years in which I have earned a rank of second degree black belt. The perseverance that I have learned and selfconfidence
I have gained of believing in myself to know that everything is possible if hard work and determination remains. This is the mindset I have developed in which I apply to my school studies and will apply even further after my graduation in my career. I have also been able to develop my leadership skills in both of the taekwondo schools I have attended by teaching and helping out students at my Taekwondo class. At my first school where I became a black belt, I was asked by Master Shawn if I was willing to teach a class all by myself because he saw the development in which I had grown and the potential he saw in me to take martial arts further
