Personal development is one of the most important and useful tools for students and any professional who want to achieve on their different fields. Personal development is a process concerned with specific aspects of individual; the development of ‘what’ and the ways this can be planned, achieved and evaluated (Irving and Wiliams page 517-526). Maslow (1970) suggests that all people have an in-built requirement for self-awareness which happens through the process called self-actualization.

For one to succeed in personal development, they have to manage their time well. According to Gallozzi(2009) time management is just life administration. That is the discipline to concentrate on what is important. He goes on to say if time is lost it is gone forever and one can not replace it. A.B. Zu Tarven tells us how to improve to be time conscious. “if before going to bed every night, you will tear a page from the calendar and remark, ‘there goes another day of my life, never to return,’ you will become time conscious.
Time management is important to personal development as one will send the time wisely. Time management is important as it helps one to reach his/her goals on time. Gallozzi (2009) goes on to say time management help one to achieve balance in life and avoid meltdowns. It also reduces stress and make one feel more confident in the ability to get things done.
The other that is important in personal development is reflective learning. Boud, D Keogh and Walker 1985 page 43), “reflection is an important human activity in which people recapture their experience, think about it, mull over and evaluate it. Schon’s (1983) states that reflection in action concerns thinking about something while occupied with doing it, having a feeling about something and working according to that feeling. Dewey (1938) also talks about five stage model reflection. This is where by one identifies a problem, observe to create a whole understanding and develop a hypothesis. He goes on to say, after developing a hypothesis, one should put the speculation to examination and then test the speculation or put the understanding into practice.
Reflective learning is very important in personal development. It is not possible for a person to live a full life without making mistakes. According to Gallozzi (2013) people can learn very important and valuable lessons from their past mistakes. He goes on to say it is important to look back and monitor one’s experience as one can be able to adjust their course of action.
