What does it mean to be an American today? Being an American isn’t hard,but sometimes people just like to not follow things. First thing is being to say The Pledge of Allegiance in school than sitting down on your lazy butt. Second thing is being yourself. I am an American. I choose this word to represent me, although others may not acquiesce and won’t categorize individuals who aren’t born in this country to be Americans. In others perspective, to be an American means to have the blood of an American. But I on the other hand, don’t have the heritage and the qualifications that are expected of me to be an American but that is the word that I have chosen to describe myself regardless. The definition of what it means to be an American is debatable and varies from each person.

Some may answer as a personal opinion, others as a factual statement, I however agree with those who see it as an opinion. Every person in America is different in some way.
Being an American can mean different things to different people, but at its center, it is about being part of a nation that values freedom, equality, and diversity. One of the most important aspects of being American is our value of freedom. This includes the freedom of speech, religion, and expression, as well as the right to own property and pursue happiness. This commitment to freedom is reflected in our country’s founding documents, such as the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights, which establish the basic principles of our government and guarantee individual liberties to all citizens. The United States of America is a country that is built upon a foundation of unique values and principles.
Being an American can mean many different things all depending on the different perspectives of different ethnic or religious groups. So what does being an American mean to me? Being an American to means that everyone can live a happy stress free life where they don’t have to worry about being discriminated against or feeling like they don’t have equal rights. To start with, being an American can range in definition depending on a person 's perspective of America. Personally, I would say being an American is when you can live a happy life where you don 't have to worry about being treated differently because of the color of your skin.
Many people have different definitions of what it means to be an American. Americans are brave, welcoming, and some may even be considered judgemental. In America everyone is welcomed with the right to express themselves and the same equality as everyone else. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and that’s what makes America so diverse. When I was six years old, living in Ethiopia, my dad won an American green card visa lottery among 53,000 people. Although it was exciting news, family members were discouraged because my dad could not afford the visa processing and traveling expense. However, he found a sponsor in Seattle, which allowed him to settle in America. As soon as he found a good house and a stable job, he started the process for me and my family. When we arrived here We were worried, Rey needs study very hard to make high levels of professionalism bicause are essential in the future, my wife will study to make a nursing board and I have to find a work to earn money to buy food, medicines, clothes and pay the nurse school To study nurse and work without distractions from personal problems means a good planning time, study in the afternoon and find a part-time job in the morning but to pay the books rent house, internet connection and uniform I need to find a good job, My family is very happy now Because my son is learning different language also my wife are spiking English at work and Know different persons with different cultures such as Asian, Russian so we are improving professionals skills.
