My name is Emma Hogan and I am a junior at West Delaware High School in Manchester. Throughout my high school career, I have been involved in many activities and utilized my leadership skills to help me succeed in the classroom. I take pride in my academic achievements and have always made academics a priority. Being the youngest in my family, I grew up in the shadow of two older siblings who were thoroughly involved in school and worked hard for their grades. Seeing their success was the motivation for me to work hard and take school seriously as well. Going into high school, I set lofty goals and standards for myself. I am a firm believer that education is power and by participating in making decisions for the education of Iowa’s youth, I know I can make a difference. I, along with the entire student population today make up the future of the state of Iowa and our Country. It would be an honor to be allowed to serve on the State Board of Education and help mold the future of Iowa. With new technology and new evolvements, I believe that education and how we learn need to evolve as well.
