Ever since I was a child, my parents have kept me involved in sports. Growing up I played many sports, but the one sport that stuck out to me was hockey. I have been playing hockey at a competitive level for the past 11 years and while playing hockey has given me the experience of being in a team environment, it has also taught me to work towards a common goal.
Through the past 11 year of playing competitive hockey, I have had some incredible experiences that have morphed me into a more well rounded individual. Playing hockey at such a competitive level has granted me many opportunities that many other people my age haven't had the chance to do. For example, when my team went to the “Tourni International de Hockey” held in Quebec City, Canada annually. This tournament is the most famous youth hockey tournament in the world with some of today's superstars having played in it. Throughout the two week long tournament, I had made some friends that I am still in contact with, 5 years later!

Throughout my entire playing career, I have had to balance an intense hockey schedule with an intense school schedule. With two such important, yet intense activities comes a magnitude of self discipline, and time management. I had to learn how to not only excel, but become efficient at my school work. Along with being physically capable, playing hockey at such a high level increased my mental capabilities by keeping my brain thinking during games and practices. Looking back at my last four years of high school, I have realized that if I were to go back and do it all over again, I would change nothing and do the same
