According to The Ethics Resource Center (2009), “code of conduct is intended to be a central guide and reference for users in support of day-to-day decision making. It is meant to clarify the organization's mission, values and principles, linking them with standards of professional conduct.” This assignment of crafting my personal code of conduct and ethics statement puzzled me in the beginning. However, once I started researching the topics of creating a personal ethics statement, I understood that this assignment was simply a personal statement detailing my values and beliefs. Once I realized this, the assignment became crystal clear. The purpose of this assignment was to establish a set of standards that determines how I will react in certain circumstances. These standards include dependability, honesty, courtesy, humility, motivating and respect. Romans 12:2, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect” Dependable- 1 John 2:5-6, “But whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. The Bible tells us that humility is a value that shows respect to others. Rather than always thinking, "Me first," humility lets you say, "No, you first, my friend." Humility is the trait that allows you to go far and beyond to help others and not expect something in return. Ralph Waldo Emerson states, “A great man is always willing to be little.” Showing humility has always been important to me.
