1. Introduction. Leadership is the ability to guide, inspire, and encourage others to accomplish a goal by demonstrating one’s core values. As a leader, I understand that everyone brings together diverse skills, experiences, and perspectives and it is my job to influence and motivate them to make better-informed decisions. I believe integrity, dependability, and growth are critical to effective leadership and it helps me convey my vision, build trust, and inspire my team.

Integrity. As a leader in the USCG, I prioritize and uphold unwavering integrity, setting the highest standards for myself and inspiring others to do the same. It means consistently demonstrating honesty, ethical behavior, and adherence to the highest moral principles. I firmly believe that integrity is the foundation of effective leadership, and it is the key to building trust, fostering accountability, and ensuring the success of our mission. b. Dependability. It’s important to consistently deliver on commitments, meet deadlines, and ensure that tasks and responsibilities are fulfilled with the utmost diligence and reliability. As a leader, I recognize that dependability is not just about fulfilling my obligations, but also instilling trust and confidence in those I lead. I strive to build a team that can rely on each other, knowing that everyone will do their part to the best of their abilities. c. Growth. I believe that continuous learning, adaptability, and innovation are essential for achieving excellence and staying ahead in an ever-changing Coast Guard. It means fostering a culture of continuous learning, encouraging personal and professional development, and seeking opportunities for improvement at all levels.
