My career began in a high school gymnasium when I participated in the mommy and me classes as a two year old. I eventually transitioned into tot classes at a gymnastics club and began to really develop a passion for the sport. Before I knew it, I had worked my way up to competing at the compulsory levels. As I continued to compete, my love for the sport grew, and I made it to the optional competitive levels. However, my sophomore year I had made the decision to transition from club to my high school’s gymnastics program. Each one of these individual experiences, I have encountered in gymnastics, has shaped me into who I am today. Growing up in a club gymnastics environment taught me many different lessons, some that even stretch beyond the sport itself. One key quality that I always seemed to have and continue to have is perseverance. Skills in gymnastics did not always come easy for me, and I really had to work hard if I wanted to continue to get better. This was true no matter what level I was in or how old I was. With this, came the frustration, the fear, and the tears when things did not always go the way I wanted. This was especially true when I went twenty hours a week in the gym while attending school daily. Since this time commitment was almost always the case, I easily learned the importance of prioritizing my time. I am now able to organize my own schedule with ease, and that is a lesson that can be applied to almost anything I choose to do in the future. While it was stressful at the time, I am so thankful that I had that level of discipline throughout my life.
