I wake up in a warm environment around 6pm. My first steps of the day begin into the bitter cold of North Dakota. I walk in the snow for a quarter mile to reach my owners truck. Stepping high, I get into the truck and gently tap on the gas pedal to get the truck started. For a few minutes, I wait for the truck to warm up. My owner slowly pulls me onto his calloused tired feet. I am made of rubber from my toes to my knees. With steel toes and insulation lined through out the cavity. I have black in color with oil stains, mud and snow. I usually have to be replaced 4-5 times a year because of the terrible weather conditions. Most days I walk in 6-8 inches of snow. As we go up hills, down valleys, and on backroads that are treacherous to drive in. At each stop we make I get out in the bitter cold once again and climb onto the top of the tank to hook up hoses to fill the tank. By this time the mercury has dropped to -25 degrees and sometimes colder. I struggle to once again get into the cab of the truck to warm up. After our third stop with each taking 2-3 hours we start our journey towards home. Once again changing gears and headed home is the highlight of my day. At this point I 'm tired, cold, and in need of warmth. Each time I hear the signal of the truck I know we are getting close to home.
