How did you become the person who you are today? Each one of us takes personal pathways in life. Many outside forces become positive or negative forces which through cause and effect, change who we are for better or worse. Do you believe that you can achieve all that you set out to achieve? Joseph Campbell lays out his concept of the legend's excursion that each hero encounters on his own particular path. This is a story about a personal friend of mine by the name of Gracie Garcia, who dared to trust God, stepped out on faith, and became a hero by saving herself in the end. By using Joseph Campbell quotes from the website Goodreads.com, regarding “A Hero’s Journey” I aim to show and prove that one individual’s journey can be just as inspiring, uplifting, and educational as the action pact fictional movies made in Hollywood today. The hero’s journey has seventeen stages. The hero may well come up against a 'father figure' who must be beaten, persuaded or whose approval must be achieved in some way. Ultimately, by whatever means, the difficult relationship between the two must be reconciled (changingminds.org). In this story, the father, is God the Heavenly Father. During Gracie’s two months of trials and tribulations, she is having a bout of guilt. Gracie realizes that God does not expect her to be perfect, that she is human and therefore will experience an emotional response to unfavorable circumstances. Nonetheless, she still feels as though she is not exercising enough faith. Prayer is Gracie’s weapon of choice, so she prays to receive forgiveness for her perceived deficiency in faith.
