The night was cold and with every gust of wind someone shivered. The stars were bright enough to light up the night even without the bright full moon in the sky. I was standing in my normal spot in a short alleyway with a line of five
Mckenna, I too wrote about the mindless monster and the negative effects it can have on someone. It's crazy to think about the lengths people will go to please someone and will overwork themselves to make sure others are happy. I believe that the only way to be truly happy is to make sure you're good first. The other aspect I agree with was your point on body language. That is something I need to work on a lot as well.
The once starry night now resembled a cluster of tiny white smudges engulfed by a grim lifeless mass. Just as my eyes were fully shut, I heard a distant yell, followed by a woman 's piercing shriek. My last thought, “What is happening to me.” “We need to evacuate the building.” “Wake the girl, we have to move, NOW.”
Everything seemed so dark and yet the stars always shone even though engulfed in total darkness. Even though it is left in the dark, the star does not long to move and stays in place every night until the darkness comes again, as if saying “you do not bother me.” Somehow, even though millions of miles away, they filled me with hope. Maybe I could be like one of those
Darkness. Everything was black. You didn't know where you were, or how you got there. You tried to stand up. Your legs began to wobble.
I saw a bright light heading towards me, and then blackness. I was half way in the car and half way on the ice cold concrete. Each drop of rain felt like a gentle tap as it landed on my skin. The sky was filled with grey smoke. I managed to lift my head up as I saw flashing lights coming towards me.
A Ghostly Spark Introduction (reveal): Native American culture has always been an interest of mine. Since my beginning with the Boy Scouts of America on my path to Eagle Scout, I have come closer to the dense but often forgotten history of the First Nation people of America. Upon joining the Order of the Arrow, the BSA’s honor society centered around Native American virtues and beliefs, I have continued to take it upon myself to learn more about the long forgotten Native history. While I knew about the general struggles the Native Americans faced as “white man” invaded the unharnessed Western frontier, I had not learned about the specific catalyzing incidents that caused such conflict and suffered between these two cultures. While searching through topics like native music and combat, I knew I needed an event that sparked the rift between these two types of people, growing U.S. government and early
The rest of the day was spent in solitary. That night I did manage to get what some would call sleep, but it was far from pleasant. At first, all I could see was a thick veil of darkness. Then I began hearing crying in the distance, like a lost soul adrift in the abyss of darkness. Then it cut off abruptly, only a suspended echo remaining.
As all this was happening, It was like I could see myself. I looked down at my face and tears were streaming, I was trying to move my arms and legs, but they were not moving. I had stopped
In the short story, “ The Interlopers”, the author Saki states that, “greed will lead us to demise.” This story is talking about two men that are fighting over a piece of land. They both hate each other and wish for their death: “The two enemies stood glaring at one another for a long silent moment. Each had a rifle in his hand, each had hate in his heart and murder uppermost in his mind. ”(2)
Through a small tear in the fabric, I gazed into the dark abyss of clouds, that guarded the star-lit sky. Prohibiting a single starlight to be let through. The crystal tears bulleted down from the sky making a light tapping noise on the tarp above me. The steel tent creaked trying to fight off the howling winds. Through this chaos, there was a moment of silence.
I have had tough hope once, I had to move to a different state and start to get used to the new place. Moving was hard and took a long time to move everything to our new house. My new house was hard to get used to because it was different and I wasn 't used to it which made it hard to sleep and I had to leave my friends behind and I would have to find new friends. Making new friends was hard because I would be alone until I found new friends and I would have no one to talk to so I would be very quiet. Usually I would always be talking to a friend and I am only social with friends.
If all the energy from the sun that is absorbed on earth every year was stored, there would be enough energy to power the entire world eight thousand times over (Maehlum). Currently, to capture the sunlight and convert it to usable electricity, we use solar collectors. Solar power has incredible potential in terms of its energy providing properties. Energy is not the only reason why solar is such a positive alternative, using solar power will help to limit the use of fossil fuels such as coal and oil and it will also provide many new and untouchable jobs in a globalizing world. In his book, The World is Flat, Thomas Friedman explains that the world is becoming globally connected through technology and that current jobs will be replaced by technology and will go to the most intelligent and inexpensive areas.
Moment of Epiphany Epiphany is the feeling of realization of a major life-changing event. The day I woke up for my very first day of work was when I realized that I was becoming young adult. I 've never had a job before, not even babysitting, like every teen girl does. I was completely new to the work force. I had no idea what I was doing
My heart would palpitate while my skin flushed. I could feel myself getting hotter and more nervous as thoughts raced through my head. They weren’t connected, but they felt tied together, stuck. I felt as if my life was on a video reel but the sounds were distorted, and the film was held together by a shaky hand. My teacher looked at me, saying something but all I heard was unintelligible speech, the other students were staring at me while I prayed silently for a sinkhole to open up and remove me from the situation entirely.
