Just a week ago I was in the main office along with a group of friends waiting for the arrival of Mr. Medina, who we were told was currently in a meeting by the snobby blonde lady in the main office. As we waited for our assistant principal to arrive, a Domino’s pizza deliver guy came through the doors with stacks of pizza piled high ,the strong greasy smell grabbed the attention of our noses we all starred at the boxes at he placed it on the counter . As the pizza disappeared one by one time flew by at that point we realized lunch was almost over. We were all fed up and hungry. As I walked through the halls with my white pants and white Haitian Flag shirt, everyone was expressing Haitian pride the best way they could from their printed shirts to red and blue outfits and even the flag itself by their side. It was great to see that everyone was enjoying the celebration even those who weren’t even Haitian. I walked through the white narrow hallway with pride on my way to the cafeteria spotting all my friends at the table also showing their red and blue pride where we always sit in our own corner in the back. They surprised me with a bouquet of balloons and little gifts bags because today was also my 19th birthday. Already I was expecting to have a good day and not have no one or nothing ruin it. The bell rang to start the day we all headed into class, 30 minutes didn’t even pass yet and Mr. Hart walks through the door asking everyone who were out of uniform to leave the classroom and get a dress code violation guiding half of the class to the hallway . My classmates and I faces were filled with confusion; Monica then decides to ask why we needed to get a dress code violation ,he explains that we didn’t have the right to be out of uniform just because today was a holiday.
