Every night, 365 days a year the sun sets in Key West is a part of someone’s night. The light goes out, but the city is still awake. Everywhere in Key West there is either food, art, or someone showing off a cool talent. The hot humid days turn into cool humid nights. The stars and moon come out and dance to the music.
I don’t mind at all, but I’ve warned you haha. That’s so great. I love traveling, but my family isn’t really the traveling type (probably because we’re so big and it’s expensive).
I believe in finding yourself in others. In the 21st century when you grow up you are surrounded in a world of technology, ungratefulness, and high expectations. Before I went on this life changing missions trip that was my mindset. I was ungrateful, and jealous of what I did not have. But now my values and my mindset has changed I now am grateful, and I am jealous of the people who have so little and are still so happy.
There were rice plants on my left and farm animals on my right. I grew up in New York City, so you can imagine the millions of questions that were running through my head. I’d never been to the countryside of the Dominican Republic before, but when I finally did, I couldn’t be more ecstatic, despite the scorching Caribbean sun burning down on my brown skin. I hadn’t visited the Dominican Republic since I was four years old. All I had was vague memories of my grandmother’s boisterous laugh and the chickens in the backyard I loved chasing after.
Going through every security checks and bag checks, I anxiously waited until it was my turn. There were thousands of people standing at the baggage claim waiting to claim their luggage and others were rushing to the gate to catch their flight. I happened to be one of those people. Sitting in the cold lounge, waiting for my flight to El Salvador to arrive, all I could think about was my mother’s last words before she said goodbye. Her exact words were “I promise, I will be there soon.”
My grandfather asked me “Which one?” I respond “Let’s get this one”. Little did I know that guinea pig was my dinner. Guinea pigs or cuy are not pets but food in Ecuador. When I arrived at the airport it looked like any typical airport, but it felt as if I was in a different world.
This past year, I recently took a trip to Gulf Shores, Alabama. My family decided to travel there for a week over the summer to spend time at the beach. When my parents first told me about the trip, I was not excited at all. Why were we going there? I had never heard of Gulf Shores and didn’t know what there was to do there.
As previously mentioned, life events can shape someone’s life incredibly. The way the bureaucrat’s is shown is not one sees every day for the simple reason that he is depicted as desolate and in need of someone to be there for them because of the hate they received from the environment surrounding them. Most certainly that was how people made me feel when I first got to the Dominican Republic. Coming from another country was challenging, especially one that is completely culturally different: people from the Dominican Republic and Italy behave distinctly, opposite ways of expressing themselves with others and have different lifestyles. In the first place, Italy is a 1st world country, which is known for being highly developed, while the Dominican
Mission trips are amazing. The first time I went to Athens, Ohio on a Good Works mission trip I realized that I had a lot more than I thought I did and I needed to be more grateful for the everything I had. This time I went, I was a little nervous that it was going to be the same as it was a couple of years earlier, but it was a whole new experience. On this trip, I was one of two people that this was round number two. Altogether twelve people went to Good Works.
On a nice, warm, summers day, my family and I had gone on vacation to Orlando, Florida. We stayed there for five days. One of the days we went to Sea World. It took us a little while to arrive in the park, but as soon as we were in I had to take off my shirt because it was extremely arid. Thank God I had my bathing suit on underneath my clothing.
Last summer I went on vacation to Puerto Rico with my cousins. We did really fun things like snorkeling, a boat ride, and eating at many wonderful places. Although all those sound really fun, I want to talk about the time I met the most cutest, most fluffiest, most friendliest, animal ever. It all started off on a breezy summer night while my cousins and family were chillin’ at our hotel pool.
I can see myself enjoying creamy pasta and warm breadsticks in Italy or climbing a palm tree in the Bahamas to get some fresh coconut juice, but the stern mother that controls the temporal lobe of my brain usually responds to these ideas by saying, “Girl, you better have the money for that.” She’s right, the older that I’ve gotten I’ve realised that money is often required for a lot of things. But I don’t just want to have money for an adventurous journey, I also want to to one day buy my mom a house, a red washer and dryer (she loves the color red, our entire kitchen is red), and a Michael Kors handbag. It’s all frivolous materials but I just want to give my mom as much as she’s given me.
In my life ive had lots of memorable events , but the most unforgettable one was my graduation trip to Cancun Mexico. when I first found out I was going to this trip I thought it would be so easy as in just get up and go, but no this trip took tons of planing, the most important part of this trip was getting my passport that took about five weeks to arrive, once I received my passport then I was able to start booking my flight, that's when the excitement started, then I booked my hotel. When I found out we were going zip-lining in Costa Rica I couldn 't believe it I have always wanted to go zip lining and now I can check that off my bucket list ! that morning we woke up got our friends, and got on a tour bus to take us there to the place to go zip-lining. When we got there we got our harnesses on, Climbed the ladder to go up in the high trees, then my stomach dropped when i got to the top. I knew that I needed to face my fears, even if it was I was frightened!
The Most Memorable Vacation A memorable vacation is one that you can never forget. I never thought I would build houses for poor people. It was one of my most memorable experiences in my life. What made it even more memorable was the fact it was my first time to go to a foreign country to help other people build houses.
