And off we go. Our engines roaring as we take off. Aftyn and I love to race. I went to the left and was riding in a big open area while Aftyn went over to the right and was side hilling. I was just coming over a hill when the unthinkable happened.
On a good day you 're mediocre, on a day like today, you 're horrific. That race, and the world-shattering heartbreak that followed, forever changed the way I saw running. I discovered that even hard work is not always invincible at the hands of fate.
During my final year of Cross Country around Regionals at Oglethorpe, I ran my final race for my high school career. Banks County was nearly number one in the State, the furthest we had ever ranked in history, and spirit and hopes for State Championship were high. I was nervous, like nobody’s business, I had messed up during my senior night because I was upset for my parents for not showing up and escorting me. And I was scared that I was going to do horribly. But as I ran, I realized that if I let my past mistakes and failures hold me back or get in my way, so I ran, harder and better than I ever had before and apparently even beat a “skinny kid”.
I roll up the car window on my barely one-year-old bright red Honda Accord, and watch the cop slowly drive away. When he’s out of sight, I look down and fixate on the small, pink paper in my lap. I try to read the words on it but my head 's still spinning I’m so dead. What are my parents going to say? There goes the rest of my summer.
It took them a whole month before i could go before a judge. I was sitting in my cell waiting for the correctional officer to come get me. I was ready to be outside these damn walls. Being here for over a month was killing me, I was missing out on my money and I haven't been getting no pussy. I mean there was some correctional officers that liked fucking inmates, but I didn’t feel right stepping out on Carmen
On our journey to the Dane county Jail I 0don’t think we know what to expect only that the people that are there have done some wrong to society and will pay the altmit penalty. Once at jail we all had to check in and were given badges that told we were visitors. While in the lobby they had time machines that you could add fund to someone that was being kept there. Some of your option I noticed was for phone calls and getting items within the jail that you could have.
I am writing to apply for the position of U.S. Probation Officer as advertised on your website. As shown by my resume, I have several years of experience in law enforcement and security management. As a correctional officer and Parole and Probation Agent dealing with crimes, I have had the chance to conduct several successful investigations displaying attention to details, sound judgment, and analytical skills. I have also gained practice in documenting cases, interviewing offenders, and using tact in dealing with victims and offenders. While my expertise has been gained mostly in the field with investigations of cases, I have also gained extensive experience in Collaborative Offender Management Enforcement Treatment (COMET).
For some people it's just fun. But for me It's a lifestyle. People ask what is it? It's the sport rodeo. For those who don't known what rodeo is, rodeo is an exhibition or contest in which cowboys show their skill at riding broncs, roping calves and other activities.
Thirty-five years or so later -- had to be at least thirty-five -- I saw that name on the obituary page of the paper, under a picture of a skinny-faced black lady with a cloud of white hair and glasses with rhinestones at the comers. It was Beverly. She'd spent the last ten years of her life a free woman, the obituary said, and had rescued the small-town library of Raines Falls pretty much single-handed. She had also taught Sunday school and had been much loved in that little backwater. LIBRARIAN DIES OF HEART FAILURE, the headline said, and below that, in smaller type, almost as an afterthought: Served Over Two Decades in Prison for Murder.
Rebecca looked at Yin and replied, “let’s just say there is history with those two. Oh and one more thing when Rachel gets like that stay away from her.” Yin simply nodded. Down the hall Rachel stormed to Reynolds office and seeing her Captain, she walked angrily into his office and slammed the as violently as she could.
I had one assault charge whenever I was really young, I got detained for a few days then went on my merry way home. About 7 years later, there's another assault charge put against me - whenever someone had spit on me (Hey! That's an assault on a minor!) , I had grabbed their throat and put it against a wall - then let go after realizing I just flipped shit. I already knew what was about to happen, I had dealt with police before but never had any charges.
"Waking Up from Abuse" Awakening to the reality that your entire life has been a lie is about the harshest wake up call you can get. I speak from experience. I've actually done it twice now. The first time I "woke up" was when I finally realized I was the survivor of childhood narcissistic abuse.
Jail or prison is probably the last place any person would want to be, unfortunately there are people that for one reason or another end up in a jail. The experience of being locked up is definitely traumatizing, being deprived of your freedom, not being able to do what you want, so many rights taken away. However losing your freedom is not the only issue you face once you go to jail, being there and surviving is the most difficult part. There are so many issue one has to face when going to jail, you find yourself trying to adapt to something you probably have never lived before. Everything is new, there is violence, there is racism, overcrowding, and issues with health care, besides a plethora of other issues.
Is your first instinct to say one with a criminal conviction should never be a teacher? Why or Why Not? Discuss. I personally feel a person who holds a criminal background should be able to be a teacher under the following conditions: criminal conviction was due to a minor infraction, the quantity of convictions is minimal, and the conviction did not occur recently. Minor infractions can included the following: drug possession, petty theft, and driving under the influence (DUI).
