It’s Friday night and the St. Rita football team is playing Mount Carmel in our homecoming game. Everyone is cheering and having a great time. The St. Rita football team is winning and everyone is exited. As I look around and see how much attention the football team is getting, and how when people think of St. Rita they think of our sports teams. How we have a great sports program.
The buzzer going off, the crowd cheering, for the first time in school history, Trinty Clinton Township are state chapions. That team made history, acheiving far more than what any spartan was thought possible, but this team accomplished far more than a state championship. There has been Trinity greats that have made a mark in the Trinity basketball program history. I knew, this being my last year at trinity, that I had had mighty big shoes to fill if I also wanted to make a perminet mark at trinity. "The differance between successful people and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather in a lack of will"- Vince Lambardi.
The Golden State Warriors have broke the Chicago Bulls for the NBA record of most wins in a single season. The Warriors beat the Memphis Grizzlies 125 to 104 on Wednesday, April 13 in California and broke the record that was set in 1995-96 by the Bulls. The Warriors finished with a record of 73 wins and 9 losses this season and are now playing in the playoffs. Stephen Curry also hit his 400th three-pointer during his last regular season game breaking his old record from last season. Hopefully the Golden State Warriors will continue to play as well as they are so they can become back to back champions.
“Why can’t we get into our freaking offense!?” This is all I really remember from Coach McKendrick at halftime last year against Niles North in what was a tough night for our basketball team. Prior to this, we beat New Trier at home and then went on the road and beat the pre-season unanimous vote to win conference, Highland Park, in our first conference game. Before the New Trier game, our game plan was simple: we were smaller, but faster, so we were going to run the court and make this is a fast pace game. We executed our gameplan, and we won.
Upon returnal to their hometown, it is up to these young kids to pass onto the community, their new acquired knowledge and respect towards other cultures. Towards the end, it is shown how thanks to the efforts made by the teammates and their coach, the community achieved a new sense of understanding and empathy
The volleyball games against the Verndale varsity team caused the Pillager girls to socialize differently than they would if they were off the volleyball court. The group interacted differently with their coaches, teammates, and fans. The first difference of the group is how they socialized with their coaches, The girls’ gazes were intense as they focused on the helpful and encouraging words of their coach. The players were serious as they spoke and listened to their coach, on and off the court, instead of joking around like they would with their friends. Their conversations with their main coach were civilized and at a normal volume, as they needed to know what they had to do, or improve on, to be successful in their current and following games.
This illustrates that when playing sports in a team, there is plenty of communication and problem solving required to win. So not only is a team solving problems together, but they are also making new
When I first started playing basketball I was 13.That's when I realized that I could do something. That’s when I realized that I could really use my height. So I signed up for the 7th-grade basketball team, because I am 5 feet 10 inches tall and I believed that I could do something. But it's my first year on an official team and my first time on a real court.
After cheering for 4 years, I can tell you that being on a team is way more than just “doing stuff together”. It’s encouraging each other, having one another's backs, and being more than just friends; but being a family too. And just like family members fight, I’ve had my fair share of arguments with my teammates. I realized not everyone thinks or learns new things the same. This was a hard concept for me to grasp because I had my ideas, I knew what worked, and I couldn't figure out why everyone else made things so difficult.
The sheer shriek of the whistle sounded over the silence of the gym. “Everyone on the line; 8 and 30!” Coach McMahon roared from the top of his lungs like a mountain lion. We sulked to the line for the cruelest of all punishments; this is only the beginning of my high school basketball career.
The game of basketball has influenced my life in meaningful ways. In fact, school doesn’t even compare to it. People think basketball is just a sport and there’s no sentimental value in it. However, what people don’t understand school isn’t the only important thing in life. Everyone is diverse and learn in different ways.
I've learned that you should never give up, and always try your best. My story started this year. I had just tried out for a competitive basketball league and I was very anxious because I didn't know what to expect at tryouts and what to expect if I made the team. I was scared I was going to mess or do something incorrect. I'd been playing basketball since the 2nd grade, so I was an experienced player.
Air ball— again. My form was lost, coordination gone, and so was my patience. I’ve stopped playing basketball for 3 months mainly because of school work and things going on in my life. I was determined to get my skills back no matter how long it’ll take. I started a game of basketball with other people inside the gyms court.
Did you know every human body has 206 bones? Instead of having 206 bones, I have 206 ½ today. This is definitely a story I was never going to forget about, with all the pain, tears, and laughs involved. In P.E. one day in 8th grade, for our unit we played basketball.
It was a warm sunny day, and I woke up and wanted to go play basketball. So I got up all exited and went and took my shower, I probably took a 5 min shower. I wanted to get out of there quick so I could get playing my basketball. I got to my room and got dressed and pulled out my cool kicks, they were my basketball shoes. I got them tied on pretty tight.
