Bubble Gum used to get haircuts and clothes. She was the neighborhood favorite. LOL. The kids used to love playing with her. Dogs surrounded us both sides of the house once again. Fleas were taking over and biting us inside our own damn house. My ankles were swollen from the bites. We kept our doors and windows closed even in the summer months to avoid those fleas. My man W next door had dogs like it was a kennel. W and I were cool as crap. We’d play video games in his crib and chat daily. I just couldn’t deal with those fleas. Fleas are the worse. That's why I hate dogs even to this day. Every house had a unique situation but all of the neighbors kept it 100 for the sake of harmony. Our block had great block parties. The block captains will be so hype. That's the time when the younger kids could run across the street without any supervision. No one stayed in the house when the parties were happening. The fun was being outside. You never know you might luck up and find a girlfriend. My parents never objected, but they didn’t encourage me either. Our bus would stop in Kensington after Steele school in the mornings., then head to Mayfair. There were some attractive Puerto Rican girls that we picked up. Maybe they were four or five deep with some guys as well. The two that I was peeping were cute as ish; one named J and her curly headed friend D. J was the better of the two. She was of medium height with brown curly hair and a slim physique. Her English was broken, but manageable. Still, I was shy to say anything to her. J wasn’t that hard to get but for me, it would be a challenge. None of my crew at school was hitting on chicks except Rog. We were all into video games and exchanging rap tapes. Most of the time, we’d talk on the phone after school. They are my boyz for
