Nelson 1 Benjamin Nelson English 101-039 Mrs. Hirsch The Move I remember moving from my home on 55th and Pine St. during the fall of 2006. It had to be October because I remember just starting a new school year a few weeks earlier. My parents caught me by surprise with us moving because I wasn’t notified about it until the day before the actual move from my house. I was raised in this little row house on 55th and Pine St in the West section of Philadelphia. I remember being very sad to move because I never experienced such a situation like it before and I also felt like I would never see my friends and neighbors again. Leaving the school I attended, Philadelphia Christian Academy (PCA), was also a huge struggle because I had made a lot of friends there. I attended the school from daycare to that year of 2006, where I was beginning third grade. Since I wasn’t informed about the move until the day before the “big” day, school the day of the move was very painful. The new school I would be attending was called Ardmore Elementary School. It was about 15-20 minutes away from my house so I had to take a school bus to school. This was the first time I had ever ridden a school bus to school. In my old school, PCA, my Dad or Mom would drop me to school and pick me up when school was done for the day. Starting the new school was no hassle for me because the last words from my former teacher still rung in my ears. Those words helped me to make friends and helped me to develop a great relationship with my new teacher. But most importantly, it helped me to adapt speedily and efficiently to my new school’s education system.
