In the NY Times article “Why the Beach Is a Bummer,” Roxane Gay exploits the beach and the ways it never actually lives up to the expectation many have when summer comes around. Gay speaks of her childhood on the beaches of Haiti and how beautiful it was, but how different it is in the United States because there's such a high expectation for the beach since many areas aren’t surrounded by them. “The beach becomes a kind of utopia — the place where all our dreams come true”(Gay), meaning the beach becomes romanticized by so many when in reality there’s just sand in places where it doesn't belong whether in your book or on your body. Gay expresses how soon after arriving at the beach boredom approaches from having nothing to do besides
I always enjoyed the quietness of the beach when it was not busy. The quietness can take your mind in so many places and allow you to sort out the issues of life as God minister to you privately. Lindberg described each cycle of the tide was vital and each cycle of the wave was vital like each cycle of a relationship. What a tranquil
The beach is ours and no one can take that away from
" It is nice finding that place where you can just go and relax. " words by Moises Arias. One of my favorite places to go is Silver Lake Sand Dunes. Every year for the Fourth of July and Labor Day weekend the whole entirety of my family take a vast round trip together. The reasons it is my favorite place is because of my family, the round trip there, and not having to worry about anything else.
In “Find Your Beach”, a narrative essay written by Zadie Smith, the writer expresses her belief that is one is adamant enough, one can arrive at their beach - a paradise-like environment that people dream of, but is believed to be very hard to obtain. The idea of a person’s “beach” being hard to discover can be observed through Smith’s personal background, as it is almost mythical for this English writer living in Soho, Manhattan to come by a beach. What I took away from Smith’s text is the idea that when you finally arrive at your beach, “sooner or later you will be sitting on that beach wondering what comes next”. Overall, I interpreted one’s beach being defined as a person’s happiness. It is something we all have the potential to posses
I Believe… Did you know that the Hoover Dam on Lake Mead was once called the Boulder Dam? Also, that when the dam was first built Lake Mead overflowed. I wasn’t born yet of course, but I’ve spent a good amount of my time at this lake. It was summertime and we were heading to Lake Mead, I was around eleven years old at the time.
The scents of Salty, Musk, and coastal trees have always comforted me as a child. Sitting on the golden taupe seashore filled my body with soothing warmth. The Beach is a complex beauty of the earth; as a child, I have always had a peculiar view of the beach. As I flourished, my curiosity started to grow in the environment around me. The tenderness of the beach still stood with me, yet I matured and found more passion for other possessions.
According to majority of children, the shore is a playground full of adventure and lighthearted pleasure during the summer. Unfortunately, children are not awakened to reality; they are unaware of the horrific truth of the shore. The shore is a horrendous place to visit during the summer time. Disturbing factors of the beach include the disgusting people, the troublesome sand, and the filthiness.
I enjoy going to this place because I have been going there since I was a baby and it is like a second home to me. While I am visiting the beach in Florida I will experience the 5 different senses, taste, smell, touch, see, and hear. The first sense I am going to talk about is what I will see while I am in Florida. While I am lounging at the
This beach, much like Clearwater, offered our family fun in the sun but was crowded with beachgoers. The best part about this beach was the soft white powdery sand and clear blue water you could see your toes in as the water sat at your waist. The girls were disappointed as seashells stood buried in the sand, minimally accessible and unable to collect. They were also saddened knowing no parks were visibly adjacent to us. It was a relief knowing that lifeguards were on duty in the event of an emergency particularly because my wife is afraid of sharks and hesitant to go into the ocean.
Everybody knows that there are four seasons, and everyone has their favorite one out of all of them. Mine is when the woods turns into a coloring book of orange and red, when I put a nice warm batch of hot co-co on the stove, and were all of my family comes together every year. My favorite season is fall. My favorite hobby is hunting.
A beach is a place to bare the skin, isn't it? A beach is a place to soak in the sun, isn't it? A firm mattress soothes the back; isn't that true?
therapeutic. As you sit in the sand you look out and all you can see is a long stretch of beach in front of you, busy bodies everywhere running around, laughing. When the people clear all you can see is the water. The Gulf of Mexico, so clear and blue, the waves crashing onto the shore, cooling down the hot sand, and in the distance you see surfers riding out to catch the waves. Now living on an island in Washington State, the last thing I will find is someone out in the ocean surfing.
Moving towards the washrooms, one could not fail to notice a parking lot so small and crowded with the few people present at the beach. The concession stand has old bathrooms that look like they need renovation sooner than later. Walking in the beach, minds free of the worldly worries and legs free from the enclosure of the shoes, life could never get better than that. Nobody should come and take away the peace of mind that the sea breeze gives to its visitors by being rude to them or failing to perform their duty.
I believe there are two phases of education in an individual lives. The first one being the elementary education which is necessary for his/her general awareness towards the world and also for the basics of any major that they will be learning in college. College gives you immense opportunities to shape your life. Not just by choosing a major of your choice but also by giving you a chance to make up your identity.
