As soon as the coach handed me the jersey, I was ready to play basketball. He explained how I would play for about two minutes, but all of the minutes counted. I was about to play with girls three years older than me. I was more then excited, almost nervous. But it was time to play basketball. As soon as I stepped on the court, a surge of nervousness rushed through my body. Almost all of it went away as soon as I started warm-ups. I happily practiced the plays and drills for the game. It took a while until the coach blew his whistle, telling us to huddle up. We all gathered up in a huddle so no one could hear our plan. The ref blew his whistle, and threw the ball up into the air. My sister tipped the ball backwards. It was our ball first. This was going to be a good game. As I was watching the game, we were always up by at least 12 points. Our team kept on making more and more points. Lay-ups and elbow shots made up our points. Sense we were beating them, the coach walked towards me. I knew it was my turn to go in. The coach told me I was going in. The ref yelled subs and that was my sign to tell me I was going in. I met up with the person I was guarding. I was nervous with my stomach tingling, but I was ready to play. It was our ball up top. And then came my first pass of the game. Once the ball got passed to me, I forgot how nervous I was. This was like a normal game. My sister kept on passing the ball to me, but I could do nothing with the ball. More passes kept on coming to me. Then came this special pass. This time I could do something with the ball. I had the opportunity to shoot the ball. The person that was guarding me wasn’t doing her job. The thoughts that went through my head where, “should I shoot, or should I not?” If I made this shot everybody would be happy, and maybe be even a little impressed because I was three years younger than the girls I was playing with.
