Standing in the batter’s box, I twirled the bat once and placed it on my shoulder. As my heart thumped and sweat rolled down my cheek, I raised the bat and exhaled. The score was 6–6 in the bottom of the seventh inning; our team had two outs and the bases were loaded. With the weight of the game on my shoulders, I waited anxiously for the pitch. The softball whipped furiously through the air until it came to a sudden halt; the ball had crashed into my thigh.
so I hit it far to right-center. It hit the fence but it didn’t go over so I ran. When I got to first base I kept going and my coach said go all the way so I ran all the way around and they overthrew it and I was safe. I hit a walk off inside the park home-run we won 6-5 .
“Hit a homerun” I thought. The pitch was thrown, “Strike”called the umpire. My heart was racing because I really wanted to win this game. The pitcher threw the next pitch. “Strike”the umpire called again, I started getting a feeling that we were going to lose.
The huge game was coming in just 4 days as I stand on the pitching mound of an old deserted baseball field behind an old middle school. As I stand up there getting ready to throw a pitch I drained the sweat out of my shirt and went into my pitching position. As I crushed the ball with my small fingers I let go of the crinkled ball. It was a ball. I knew I wasn 't ready for the world series.
My team, unaware of my decision of playing, is in awe. I warm up my pitching arm, throwing to my coach while my team does warm ups. I, tolerantly, practice my batting with my team. Luckily, my hand doesn’t hurt. The expression on my face was much like a child on Christmas
Championship game day, the game started off good and we were really close, tied as a matter of fact until the bottom of the sixth it was the last inning we had to hold them to go to extra innings. One runner got walked the next got a hit so the first runner got to third then we got two outs. Then their best hitter comes up and it was a full count and he hits a single and they win. Now Briggs and I were very competitive, so we took it pretty hard.
I take one foot out of the box and let out a breathe I didn’t know I was holding in. I once again looked to my coach Mike for direction and go to take a practice swing. Little did I know the catcher was getting up to pressure Maddy back to first base from her lead. As I was taking my swing I heard a thud, my bat had hit something solid.
First home run Crack! The ball flew off the bat and went as high as a bird in the sky. Aaron is a young 11 year old boy who loves playing baseball whenever he can. Every Time that he would step up to the plate he was always swing for the fence and dreamed about hitting the ball over and seeing all the fans cheer as he rounded the bases. All of times Aaron had played he never had home run but was always close sometimes hitting the wall just short of the ball going over it: but today that was about to change.
Baseball isn't favorite sport, mainly because I don't have the coordination to swing at a ball coming towards my face. My name is yelled, meaning that it is now my turn to take a swing. Slowly rising the bench I shuffle out of the dug-out, passing all of my classmates who believe I will miss. Lifting the wooden bat up, I square away my feet and stare down the pitcher. He windups, I feel the ball swoosh by.
I had come up against something that I wasn’t good at, and it angered me. Everyday after practice for the next week or two was no different. I couldn’t figure out why I wasn’t getting better and what the point of all this suffering was. One night after an especially hard workout I had a talk with my dad, who was an exceptional baseball player in his day. I asked him what I need to do to get better.
Narrative I am so excited for the baseball game that I am going to tonight. My favorite team, the Kansas City Royals, are playing in the World Series against the New York Mets. The Royals won the first game of the series in a thrilling, 14 inning game. My dad went to the game, but didn’t get to go to that game. Unfortunately, I am at school right now so I didn’t get to skip school because of the game.
Think Big Leagues When I play baseball with my friends I have lots of fun, but imagine what it would be like to play on a professional team. My parents dream for me is to be successful and happy, but I have had an interest in baseball since I was four years old. I remember waking up ready to go play a tournament in the fresh summer air. When I watch the games on T.V, Mike Trout always stood out to me.
Everyone 's at least broken a bone or injured themselves before right? Well this is one of those tragic stories where I unfortunately injured myself. It all started way back in the 5th grade and all my friends and family know I love & play the game of baseball. The baseball season for the little league I play for is about to begin in about 1-2 weeks.
Then I ran out to the field and began pitching. It was the change of an inning. I went into the dugout, got my drink of my water and rested my arm for the next inning of pitching. First batter was up for our team, he got a hit. The second batter, strikes out.
There is a saying in softball it’s that “however hard you work in practice is what is shown on game day”. When game day comes I know I’ll do just dandy if I did fine in
