8:01 AM; I’ve got just enough time to finish the last question on my history homework before the first bell rings. I was weaving my way through the crowd on my way to the library when my friend Josh interrupted my plan. He dragged me over to him saying, “Ty! Ty! I’ve got to tell you something.” Josh explained that he wanted me to join his new baseball team. I immediately gave him the look because he knew I had no plans of ever playing baseball again; not after last season. He didn’t stop talking but continued his sales pitch by mentioning that a new coach had joined the league. Immediately I interrupted saying, “There is a new coach?” Josh explained that the coach had taken a team to the state championship a couple years back. He argued …show more content…

It’s 5-4., bases loaded, 2 strikes and 2 outs!”. I knew that I needed a good hit on this pitch. If I didn't hit this ball, my team would lose our last game. As I watch the ball fly out of the pitcher's hand, I was instantly mesmerized. Before I even thought to swing the bat, the ball was already past home plate. I knew what call that would be; “Strike three! That’s game,” called the ump. My team lost, again, every game this season, because of me. It was all me, every time, every game. Anytime I was up to bat, I was always too scared of the ball to swing. EVERYONE was giving me the stink eye and I knew what they were thinking; Ty blew this one again. Mom suggested that …show more content…

I was so ready for this game. Ever since I learned Coach’s special family stance I’ve been practicing at home with Josh. Today was the day for me to show the team that I’m not “Mr. No hitter”. Coach Jeremy was so ready for me to hit a big one that he put me as #2 to hit. All of the sudden the National Anthem started playing and then it was time to play ball! Up first was Josh. He hit the first pitch straight to center field, which became an out. “Ok, it's time to show my team and family what I'm made of,” I repeated throughout my head. The first pitch to me was a low fastball. I didn’t swing, it was a ball. Before the second ball was pitched, I could hear the stands cheering for me. They were ready for a big hit from the #2 batter. Second pitch, curveball. I knew the pitcher was going to throw a curveball to trick me.Something was special about this pitch, it mesmerized me just like the ending pitch from last season’s final game. I decided to take a swing at this one. I clenched my bat tight, and shaped myself into the special stance. “Beast mode,” was growling in my head and BANG, the ball went flying into left field.
“HOMERUN,” yelled the
