Summer of Survival
There I was standing in my yard waiting for my ride to Whittier to show up. All was quiet mostly because we all knew when that old Cummins pulled in the driveway It would be goodbye for a while. I had been looking forward to this for a long time 4 months to be exact. I had wanted to commercial fish since I was a small boy. Us Zimmerman’s always did have sea legs. As my captain rolled into the driveway I picked up all 100 pounds of gear and started the Longest 30 foot walk I have ever encountered. My captain jumped out of the truck we shook hands. As my father had always told me “A man is as good as his Handshake” I turned around and said my goodbyes hopped in the truck and we were off to Whittier.
As we pulled out of the driveway I was relieved when he told me that we would get cell coverage pretty much anywhere in the sound. Thats the last time we talked the whole trip. We

The job that I was doing for the summer was commercial Tendering. If you don't know what that is I'll explain. My job is to take fish from other boats and give them supplies such as fuel, water, or groceries. The reason there is tenders is so the boats don't have to go all of the way back into port to fuel up or offload there fish. I was very good at my job and the reason for that was because I am a people person and the key to your job is working both efficiently and friendly.I loved the job but I couldn't stand living on the boat because my captain was all nice to me in the beginning but halfway through the season he changed and became a totally different person. He was mean and he didn't care about me really at all. He started treating my like crap. Making me drive the boat, working long extensive hours, Not letting me sleep. The list goes on, and i dealt with it because I thought I had to until one
