The Dentist: A Short Story

The dentist held my teeth in her hand, about to put it back in place. I felt a chill down my spine, only praying for this day to end. It truly was a devastating day. This is how it started.

It was a nice and breezy day, perfect for riding a bike, so I went and took my bike around the park. At first, it was fun, but then it got a little tiring just taking laps around the same mundane area. So I thought to take it on a slope. The first time I rode on that slope filled me with this powerful feeling that I was invincible. Then I went again, only this time, much faster.

I pedaled as fast as I could, but then the breaks stopped working, and in an attempt to get control of the bike again, I made such a turn that I flew off the bike onto the sidewalk face first with a big blow to my mouth.Pain shot up to every part of my body like it was part of my blood which kept dripping out drop by drop. I could hear each drop crashing against the ground. I thought everything else was fine until my eyes clanked upon a chipped mineral piece, but when my tongue moved around inside my mouth, there were no front teeth to stop it from coming out, except one that was jammed in my bottom lip.
