The Piano has 88 keys, 230 strings, and 7500 working parts that produce the beautiful melody that we all know today. Each key is different - one developing a deep melodic tone, while the other is a more high harmonic sound. The piano itself develops a large dynamic spectrum of tones, melodies, and emotions. Each key has a different story to tell, and here's mine. My song begins with a dramatic entrance. When I was one, the darkest moment of my life had profoundly changed me for the better. My father decided to abandon my family, leaving my mom as a single-mother of four kids by herself, without paying child support. This was the biggest economic downturn that jeopardized my family. I had to grow up quick early on in my life and learn to not only balance my school life, but to help out at home when needed. My success in school would not have been accomplished if it were not for the support of my mother. My mother worked overtime shifts during weekdays, and also on weekends as well. She knew that without her, our family wouldn’t be where we are today. Due to the fact that my mother was never home and my father never visited us, I did not adjust well in Elementary School. In the 4th and 5th grade, I was suspended for my innapropriate behavior in and out of the classroom environment. At this very moment I thought to myself that there was not really a point in trying in school anymore and I told myself that I was a horrible child. But soon after, I realized that this particular experience does not define who I am. I can be better, and so I did. Despite these dynamic experiences, this ultimately made me want to make a more significant impact on my community and world. Not only excelling in academics, I became more actively involved within organizations, helped create clubs, and do more for my community. Key Club was one of the organizations that profoundly changed my life and my perspective of others around the world. This largest student led organization enabled me to meet strong servant leaders all over the Pacific Northwest
