Personal Narrative: Fantas Fantasy Football

I take fantasy football seriously. I’m in multiple leagues, most with people I know some with people I don't. I spend hours each week researching what players may be destined to score more points than the players I currently have. I wake up early on Wednesday to see who is available on the waiver wire. I spend over 5 hours every Sunday just cheering on my players through the television. Heck, I hand designed a T-shirt for my most competitive league that everyone in has to wear when they play last years champion. People I talk to who don’t play rarely understand. Why put that much time into something reaps you zero physical benefits. This is where fantasy football is most like religion to me. The first thing done in fantasy football is drafting a team full of real life players onto your fantasy team. These players have talents that, while they’re just human like the rest of us, make them appear as if they transcend normal human boundaries. If I were to meet one of my players in person, it would be impossible for me to not be in awe of them. I watch them every week of the year I can. I dedicate every Sunday that football is on as a sacred time to keeping track of and watching my fantasy players. They have an emotional effect on my life; when my team of players succeeds come Sunday, I’m relieved. These players would be representative of gods in a religion with the stories of their play being sacred scripture. Putting these players onto your fantasy team throws you into feeling as if you are a part of that sacred
