Personal Narrative-High School

The day of my first ever high school XC meet started out like an ordinary day. I woke up at 6:50 and went downstairs to the kitchen for breakfast. I had a bowl of cinnamon toast crunch(my favorite cereal). I’m Usually the first one up so as I was eating the rest of the family started to make their way downstairs. Once I was ready for school my mom offered me a ride to school which does not normally happen. I asked why she was giving me a ride today and she said it was so i could save my legs for tonight. Once I got to school it was just like any other day. The only difference was that i was really nervous for tonight's race, it was on my mind all day. It’s a home meet so I had time to walk home and eat a couple of granola bars and drink a glass of water, I didn’t want to have to run on a full stomach. After I eat I get my Uniform ready and ride my bike over to the Cross country course. I was one of the first people there so I had to help set up the tent and mix the gatorade with coach. After a while people started showing up and after everyone made it we started to walk the course. We had ran the course multiple times in practice so I knew what it was like (It was a 2 lap course that is pretty flat with a lot of curves). After we finished walking the course we started doing warm ups and streches, My nervousness is building at this point, so my stomach felt funny. Once warm ups were finished we watched the girls run because they always run first. The girls went on to take 2nd place. Now it was time for my race. Once the last girls were finished we lined up and started doing our run outs. The whole time I'm just thinking to myself that I’ll do fine, it’s my first race ever, and I’m running against varsity runners.
