Personal Narrative: How Christianity Changed My Life

As C.S. Lewis said, “The Christian does not think God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because He loves us.” Christianity is defined as the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Becoming saved is one of the most rewarding things a person can do in their life. It transforms a person from what they were in the world to what they are in Christ. Most Christians have a moment in their life where they feel God move and really sense a change in their life. This moment for me happened in eighth grade. I grew up in a very Christian family. We went to church every time the doors were open, prayed, and talked about Jesus all the time. I was saved at a young age, but I did not fully understand what it meant to be saved until I grew up. I fell into the wrong crowd and felt myself drifting away from God. I had my “clique” and we did what we thought was fun and did not concern ourselves with anyone or anything else. I did not do many things that honored the name of Jesus. While I never did anything bad, my words and actions did not add up to what the Bible commands us to do. I regret this time because I could have used my words and actions to help and not to harm people. God began to reveal these things to me, and I remember standing up and singing in middle school chapel and getting my life right with God and committing everything to Him.
