Personal Narrative: I Am Hmong-American Student

I am Hmong-American student, I am seventeen years old. My hometown is in Wausau Wisconsin in the United States. I attend Wausau West High School and it will be my last year.

My relationship with my family is great. We support one another’s decision and discuss as a family. Like as, my decision on joining this program to study language abroad, everyone in the family agrees with me. I have three older brothers, Cha Hue (24), Tou Ger (23), Tou Bee (21) and I have two older sisters, Chua (27), Anou (19). This indicated that I am the youngest in the family. My parents are Lee Xiong, my stepfather, and Chue Xiong, my mother. My step father came from Laos and lived here with the family for almost two years now. I am not the only child but I will be the second child to go onto college, and it showed my independent because I used to be dependent when I was little. But now I think I have improved. I took a class call Chinese in University of Marathon County in Wausau and it is my second year taking it. I feel like my dreams have meanings for me in the future. And my mom can only help to interpret what it means because she learned from my father, who is a shaman. I try my best to not let them worry about me. Although I right now do not work, I don’t ask them for money. I maybe don’t work to help the family but I go on to school to work my best effort. Moreover, my family describe me as a trustworthy, honesty, supportive, passionate and imaginative person. Therefore, my role in the family is to study hard and work hard in school for them to be able to be happy and proud. I don’t want them to be upset with the two of
