Animal Farm is a book written by George Orwell about animals who overthrew the farm owner to become an animal run farm. The farm is managed by pigs with a pig named Napoleon as the leader. Napoleon is a strict and deceiving pig who at first made the animals trust him and think he was a good leader only to turn out just like the humans were before the rebellion. So, what reasons allow Napoleon to stay in power. In Animal Farm by George Orwell, Napoleon stays in charge by outsmarting the animals, threatening them that Jones, the original farm owner, would come back, and finally by scaring the animals with trained attack dogs.
Throughout the years there have been many tyrannical rulers. Although these leaders have very abusive regimes many of them stay in power because of use of manipulative methods. In George Orwells Animal Farm these methods are demonstrated in an allegory of the Russian Revolution. In this novella a farm of animals work together to revolt against their owner Mr Jones in order to escape his tyrannical rule. However, in doing so a pig by the name of Napoleon gains power and treats the animals just as Mr Jones did before the revolution.
Animal Farm: How Does Napoleon Stay in charge? Power is used in multiple different ways, in this case it was not used in a positive way. Animals on Animal Farm had wanted to be free from their owner, farmer Jones. The pig, Napoleon, comes to power as a dictator since the pigs are more intellectual than the other animals. Napoleon stayed in power by using the methods of Animalism, Fear, and Propaganda.

A pig named Napoleon took control as a sole dictator and after a long reign you couldn’t tell the difference between the pigs and a humans. The first technique Napoleon used was propaganda to his advantage, he also used his power and animalism to bend the rules and finally Napoleon used fear to keep his power. Napoleon used propaganda to stay in charge.
Trying to gain freedom on the farm, the animals obtain a leader, Napoleon, who is much more harsh and stern than the former farm owner, Mr. Jones, has ever been. Symbolizing a ruler from the Soviet Union, Joseph Stalin, Napoleon brings the farm into a hole, they have a hard time getting out of. Napoleon kills various animals, and has also broken the Seven commandments the animals promise to abide by. In the beginning, the farm was run by Mr. Jones, who is later overpowered by the animals on the farm. To gain power, Napoleon starts to earn their trust by making it seem as if he is a trustworthy comrade.
Don’t be the enemy. Now that Napoleon is in charge life is getting a whole lot worse because is has complete power of Animal Farm. Napoleon from Animal Farm written by Orwell maintains control by using ideology, propaganda, and fear. Napoleon uses ideology of Animalism to give him more control over the animals.

Only puppies and pigs can live in the house, sleep in the bed, eat apples and cookies and have all of the best things. As the history is developing, Napoleon is getting more and more like a dicator. He slowly begin to being superior but did not act like a dictator. Moreover, he broke some rules, he’s in contact with humans, and he had hours of works, and he killed aniamsl, and change the only commandment for “4 legs good, 2 legs better”. He also think that “Every animals are equal, but some are more equal then others.”
My life’s journey as a thirteen year old is very similar to Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s Journey. I have had to had to overcome some challenges that have been both mentally and physically. I went through depression and the problem of keeping myself from doing anything harmful to myself and others and finally getting help and seeing therapists. In the book Animal Farm, there are two main “enemies” to the common animals. These two enemies, are Farmer Jones and the pig known as Napoleon. Each of these entities have their own pros and cons, and each one rules over the animals in their own way. Some may argue that Farmer Jones was a better owner, and Napoleon was bad, or vice versa. As stated before, each had their own unique way of ruling the animals and different popularity among the animals.
A sense of accomplishment is invaluable to a person. Not only does a sense of accomplishment build confidence and faith in oneself, but it also allows one to reflect on how wonderful the journey to the accomplishment was, and how every little struggle and triumph was worth it. In the middle of summer, where time seems endless and the stress of the previous school year has been shed by students, I never expected to find out that I scored a five on both of the advanced placement exams I took. Nor did I have one-hundred percent confidence the goals we set as section leaders of the marching band would actually be met. Yet to my surprise, I had the good fortune of accomplishing challenging things in both aspects of my life.
